County Administrator

Jack J. Krakeel is the County Administrator.

He has served in various capacities during his twenty-four year tenure in Fayette County. He served as the Assistant to the Director of Fire and Emergency Services from 1986 - 1994. He was appointed Director of Fire and Emergency Services in July of 1994 and in 2003 was appointed the Director of Public Safety. Mr. Krakeel’s’ career in local government spans more than thirty years. In April, 2007 Mr. Krakeel was appointed to serve as the Interim County Administrator.

He is a graduate of Clayton State College and Brenau University and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Krakeel and his family reside in South Fayette County.

The County Administrator is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and works directly for them. The Administrator is responsible for carrying out decisions made by the Board. The Administrator has direct responsibility over all county government departments other than those headed by one of the County's elected Constitutional Officers. While the Board of Commissioners may vote to adopt a program, a policy, an ordinance, or may take other action to ensure or improve the delivery of county government services, it is the County Administrator who ensures on a daily basis that these decisions by the County Commissioners are implemented throughout the county government system.

 The Fayette County Government currently has over 700 full-time public employees.
