Plant a Row Project

In 2000, the Fayette County Master Gardeners collaborated with the Fayette County Extension Office Gardeners and the Fayette County Commissioners to establish a Plant a Row Garden to grow fresh vegetables for citizens that would not have a chance to receive such items. The Master Gardeners planted, maintained, and harvested a 100' x 200' garden plot since 2000.

Since 2000, this project has donated over 39,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to various community service organizations throughout Fayette County. Organizations receiving fresh vegetables include: DFACS and the Fayette Samaritans, The Battered Women's Shelter, Two Youth Protection Homes, and the Fayette County Senior Center. The retail value of these contributions is worth approximately $42,900.00 to the Fayette County community.
