Meet the Director

Jack J. Krakeel is the Director of the Division of Public Safety with responsibilities for the administration of the Department of Fire Services, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, E-911 Communications and Animal Control.

He has served in various capacities during his twenty-two year tenure in Fayette County. This service includes seven years as Assistant to the Director of Fire and Emergency Services. He was appointed Director of Fire and Emergency Services in July of 1994 and in 2003 was appointed the Director of Public Safety. Chief Krakeel’s  public safety career spans more than thirty years.

He is actively involved in various professional and civic organizations and currently serves as the Chairman of the National Fire Protection Association’s Technical Committee on Emergency Medical Services.  He is a Past-President of the Fayetteville Rotary Club and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Fire Chiefs for ten years.  In 2000, Chief Krakeel was recognized as “National Fire Chief of the Year” by the International Association of Fire Chiefs and Fire Chief Magazine and in 2006 was recognized for his achievements and contributions to the field of  Emergency Medical Services by receiving the prestigious “James O. Page”  Award.

Chief Krakeel is a graduate of Clayton State College and Brenau University and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He resides in Brooks in South Fayette County with his wife Marshal and their three children.
