On Saturday August 5, 2007, the Fayette County Benevolent Society held its first annual Pool Tournament. The benefit was held at the Classic Cue in Fayetteville. Seventeen participants entered the tournament, which included three league players with exceptional skills. The monies raised from the tournament will go towards a flower fund and for assistance outside the organization. The Benevolent Society is comprised of members of Fire and Emergency Services, the Sheriff’s Department, and 911.
The tournament was broke down in two divisions; Public Safety and league players. However, both division winners were able to compete to determine the over all champion. The Public Safety Division winners were as follows; first place Mitch Warren, Second place Larry Skeen (Shane Skeen’s Father), third place David Scarbrough. Mitch Warren played an exceptional game in the finals against one of the league players, but came up one game short finishing second over all. Congratulations to all winners in the tournament.
