Fire Apparatus Officer Classes

Recently the Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services Training division held three Fire Apparatus Officer Classes. This course is designed for the firefighter who wishes to advance to the next level of his/her profession. The class is 40 hours and consists of six modules: Preventive Maintenance, Test and Inspections, Driving/Operating, Water Supply, Stand Pipes, and Operations. At the end of the class students must take and pass an exam administered by the Georgia Standards and Training Division. The passing of this exam certifies the candidates in the National Professional Qualifications System (NPQ). A total of 37 firefighters attended the class. These 37 will add to the 10 others who attended the FAO and Aerial Apparatus classes held in Anniston Alabama last fall. In order to drive and operate one of the recently purchased Quint apparatus, firefighters are required to have both the FAO class and the Aerial Apparatus class.
