Commissioner Jack Smith and Eagle Scout Cole Harp
Eagle Scout Cole Harp, Troop 118 of Fayetteville, chose for his project to rehabilitate seven acres of floodplain land near Whitewater Creek. Under Harp’s direction he and Boy Scout Troup 118 removed trash and fallen trees, planted 35 native trees, constructed and placed bird houses throughout the site, and constructed tree identification signs. Due to this restoration, this land now is open, attractive and accessible to county residents and an outstanding environmental educational area within easy reach of Whitewater High and Middle schools.

Commissioner Jack Smith and Eagle Scout Samuel Strawbridge
Eagle Scout Samuel Strawbridge, Troop 118 of Fayetteville, chose for his project to build six benches for Peeples Elementary School. These benches were designed with exposed aggregate pedestals and wooden seating areas. Four benches were installed at the school’s main entrance which allowed seating for students, staff, and visitors while students are being dropped off and picked up at the main entrance of the school. Two benches were installed on the playground which provides seating for the faculty while they supervise children on the playground.
