The Fayette County Public Library announces its inaugural Fayette On The Page: One Book, One Community initiative, commencing immediately with Mitch Albom’s 1997 bestseller, Tuesdays With Morrie. Fayette On The Page is a countywide reading and discussion event that encourages all Fayette County residents to read the same book at the same time, and then participate in related cultural, educational and recreational activities. Learn Chinese: Monday Evenings, June 2-July 21, 7-8 p.m. Free. Ages 8 to adult welcome. Registration required. No book required. Join the class anytime during the eight-week course. Instructor: Dong Israel. Please call 770-461-8841 to register, or register in person at the library’s front desk.
The library will be closed on Friday, July 4th for the Independence Day holiday.
Fayette On the Page 2008 Finale Party: Saturday, July 26, 2008. 1-2 p.m.: Community Picnic. Free food on the library lawn. 2-3:30 p.m.: How to Get the Life You Love-Patrice Dickey’s Lessons from “Tuesdays With Morrie,” a dynamic, inspiring presentation from life coach Patrice Dickey, award-winning author of Back to the Garden: Getting From Shadow to Joy.
Book-signing and author talk by Georgia Author of the Year Doug Crandell: Thursday, July 31, 7 p.m. Featuring his new novel Hairdos of the Mildly Depressed, a tale of hair transplants systems and brotherly love. Light refreshments and door prizes provided. Free. Sponsored by the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library.
Can’t find time to read? Join the Library’s Online Book Clubs and start receiving chapters from popular books in your daily email. Every day, Monday through Friday, we’ll send you a portion of a book that takes only five minutes to read. During the week, you’ll have a chance to read 2 or 3 chapters, enough to know if it’s a book you want to check out from the library and finish. You can read a wide variety of books including fiction, nonfiction, romance, business, teen and mystery books. Read at home, at work, or at school. The Online Book Clubs are a free service of the library. Click on the image below and start making time for reading again.

The Fayette County Public Library:
- provides free access to information, Internet and word processing
- offers outstanding Reference service
- contains over 92,000 titles, including Genealogy Collection with Georgia census records
- has access to collections of over 250 Georgia libraries in the PINES state network
- hosts Distance Learning capabilities
Outstanding programming for all ages, includes:
- Story times with well-researched, age-appropriate activities for children from birth through 4 years
- Educational Learning Lab for students in grades K-9
- English as a Second Language courses
- Free adult computer classes for Windows, Word, Excel, and Internet
- Free music concerts and other cultural programs
- Free adult computerized tutorial classes for Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. A teacher is present to assist students with these tutorials. Weekly class about the Internet is taught by a human. A class about email is also taught by a human on the last Tuesday of the month.
The library's goals are to serve as a role model of excellence in customer service and information delivery for all patrons; and to be utilized as the County's Info Source and as a center for cultural arts for Fayette County.
The Fayette County, Georgia Public Library, is an affiliate of the Flint River Regional Library System. Our mission is to assist individuals in meeting their informational, educational, and recreational needs by providing free access (where economically feasible) to ideas and information affording personal and community benefits. The library respects the right of every individual to access all library materials freely.
